Special Events 2026
Some great times and annual festivities here at the club and Vancouver Island
Vulture's Shadow
Tournament
May 30 & 31
Woohoo! The 5th annual "Vulture's Shadow" is lining up to be a good one. All ages and skill levels are welcome, spectators too. Loads of great people coming down and fun activities to enjoy.
Combat Archery
These games have proven to be a real success for the members recently so I'm sure there will be some fun battles over the festival weekend. There is a full battle field and castles set up for the games and it is played like Capture the Flag by two 5-aside teams. Special Bumper arrows, face masks and low poundage bows provided.
Vending and Demonstrations
Some of the club members will be demonstrating and vending beautiful artworks, such as custom bows, leather working, Bow making techniques, Jewelry and Axes.
Food
There will be some healthy food and drink options available if you didn't pack your lunch. Top class hot dogs for lunch $5 and a dinner plate of pulled pork, baked potato and salad for dinner $12.
Cash only.
Outdoor Theatre
Friday night Fred Bear box collection series
Saturday night archery movie "BRAVE" with lots of pop corn : )
Tournament
A beautiful roving course of 3D targets over the hillside and through the forest. The course is set up to be a dynamic challenge for everyone. The layout caters to all skill levels with shooting stakes at various distances. The flowers will be in full bloom. At some point there's so many flowers they get in the way of the targets. There are no reservation times necessary to participate in the Tournament, it's all fairly casual. This means that there might be a wait sometimes but just sign in with the course official on site when you arrive and will get you going as soon as possible. Meanwhile, warm up on the practice range or enjoy the rest of the offerings, and the great people around.
Practice range
The practice range will be open for use. Some basic archery instruction will be available on the practice range for beginners and there are a few bows and arrows to borrow and use, first come first serve.
It's just all good old fashioned outdoor fun, a celebration of Archery, Traditional and Compound. The history, designs, legends and stories, the feeling, working with nature, new friends, inspiration and the list goes on...
